Story of "Get Ahead"

Might be some of my most clever lyrics so far? Which is why I decided to make it the Title Song. The song is about everyone's hurried lifestyle in the pursuit of whatever the hell they think is so important.

The title song from the CD and a favorite of mine that I like to play at my shows. It was cool to stretch out my vocal ability a little on this song. In writing this I was inspired by the Eagles "One of These Nights" and Paul McCartney's "Band on The Run" acoustic turnaround. First I wrote a very nice riff on my acoustic guitar that had a gallop feel to it. Later in the song I did the "Band on the Run" style turnaround but I was continuously stumped on what to do for the lead guitar. One day I wanted to play really bad, came in the house, turned everything on (including my recorder thank God) played to the tracks and WOW, the lead just came out of me like it was already there. Inspired from above.
